Two Junkies

A low point in John Lennon's career was the January 1969 Get Back sessions at Twickenham, and perhaps the low point of that period was this interview. Known to collectors as "Two Junkies", it was filmed on the 14th by CBC-TV but never aired (bits have appeared in Imagine: John Lennon and other documentaries).

Whether due to drug use, alcohol, or something he ate that morning, John grew progressively greener and more nauseated as it progressed. After pausing halfway through to visit the toilet, he returned to Yoko's side and completed the interview, but it's a highly uninspiring 29 minutes to sit through.

  1. Let's hope he just went to 'relieve his nausea'...when a junkie's body finally gets what it wants OR when the moment is near(right after scoring), it may 'express' its own happiness in any number of physically uncontrollable ways. Sounds too far out, huh? But, for an addict, it is just another day! I can't wait to hear this. Thank you!

  2. When would you say this interview occurred in relation to the audio found in the Purple Chick AB Road set?

  3. It's somewhere between DDSI 14.28 (Hello Dolly) and 14.29. I don't know the exact roll number but it should be around 140A. Paul and MLH refer to the interview as it happens and wonder if they should film it for the documentary. MLH jokes that he'd rather shoot John shooting Yoko.

  4. Awesome, thanks!!! Yeah, I wonder if John ever heard MLH's little quip. Granted Yoko's presence was a distraction, but MLH comes across as something of a weasel. Not sure if I'd prefer hearing him talk about 10,000 Arabs as the sun goes down for the millionth time or Yoko calling John's name non-stop.
