Was He Jailed For What He Done?

What a time to take a vacation, and what a time for Mediafire to suspend my account, just as we're getting into the "Nixon Administration harasses John Lennon" era.

Although my last post was titled "Cleanup Time", I didn't mean that literally, but I guess it's as good a time as any to start over. I came back from a brief trip today to find my account suspended, which means that pretty much every link on the blog is gone. I think it was just a case of Mediafire's "three strikes and you're out" policy, because I've gotten individual files removed before, "pursuant to Section 512(c)(1)(C) of the DCMA".

Ironically, they never requested the removal of vinyl Beatlegs, which contain obvious copyright violations, but interview recordings which have never been released or published anywhere. For instance, the file which broke the camel's back was the John Sinclair phone call. The agent claiming copyright on it was "www.fifthfreedom.com", which is just an anti-piracy website.

In any case, I've opened a new Mediafire account and will use it to carry on from here. I will NOT be going back to reupload three years of posts, so I hope you all got what you needed. Feel free to trade and share old files with each other via the comment sections of older posts.

  1. Hey DP: I personally wrote to John Sinclair to see if he knew anything about it - for a guy that is one of the 20th centuries greatest poster boys for free speech (and how one should not be persecuted for trivial transgressions), it blew my mind that a recording of his phone call knocked over 3 years of a magnificently curated (NOT FOR PROFIT) site. Ugh.The interviews are the ones I especially have a soft spot for..I'll be real grateful to the blog visitors to help tracking down some files I missed! -walruswaspete

    1. Brilliant Ian!

For starters, I missed the files of these pages:
      http://beatlechat.blogspot.com/2011/09/its-ten-oclock-on-saturday.html
      http://beatlechat.blogspot.com/2011/09/another-brand-new-day.html

I come by here regularly and undoubtedly will have more requests - thanks to you, and all that can help to put this great blog back together... : )

    2. Ian, my Beatle Brother, if you see this, I too have all the material EXCEPT the last post, the "Cleanup Time" post!!! If you have that and are able to upload it, I sure would appreciate it! My email is mrgmrg@hushmail.com if you don't want to post links here, if you can't swing it I totally understand!

      Thanks for reading!

  3. HE LIVES!!!!!!!! LONG LIVE DINSDALE!!!!!!!!!!

I have the entire site EXCEPT the "Cleanup Time" post (the last one), if anyone can reupload that somewhere, I'd be appreciate it! I have pretty much everything else, so if anyone is missing something, feel free to email me at mrgmrg@hushmail.com, and I'll upload it for you.

(oh wait, I don't have many of the Beatlegs, but Dinsdale says those haven't been removed).

    Totally ironic indeed! Totally Nixonian!!!!

Once again: if anyone has the John Sinclair phone call, the Philadelphia press conference, or the John-summary-of-the-march, I'd love love love to hear those!

Welcome back! Giddy with excitement! You know when you see footage and pics of Beatlefans going crazy? That's me, right now!!!!!

PS: If anyone has the "Dustbin Prophcies" series, I'm looking for those as well!

    In the meantime, enjoy this:

...in 1972, Bob Wooler gave an hour long testimonial about the early Liverpool days, really great stuff! I got it off of the BBC website a while ago, I don't know if it's still up, but it's not downloadable anyways, I recorded it manually. I also tagged on a short encounter someone had with Alan Williams (a DRUNK Alan Williams) at the Jacaranda Club a few years ago. It's audio only, but I found it on You Tube some time ago. It's sometimes hard to make out, but his parting words of "Incredible, isn't it?" is great, even now, after all these years, the guy is in disbelief...and who can blame him?!!!

    1. Pep! Thank you! And ingenious way of "coding" the address, very Beatley!!!!

Unfortunately, I was unable to get it to download, even after I put it on my turntable and spun it backwards, and then held it up to a mirror! (haha). I really appreciate the effort though! My email is mrgmrg@hushmail.com , if you get a chance maybe you can drop me a line and I can try and figure what I was doing wrong! (I meticulously transcribed the address in reverse, but to no avail!!)

But if it's too much of a hassle, don't bother yourself, I'll just keep trying with the info you gave me, and definitely thank you!

To save you time, just type in 'reverse text generator' in google....then just do a copy/paster...

  8. Dang it. I had just finished sorting out all my 1971 stuff and was going to tackle 1972 after the holiday. If anyone can share the posts for that year it would be most appreciated. I'm willing to exchange anything in return for your help

  9. I just found this blog a short time ago and was gobbling up the interviews. I didn't gobble fast enough though so if they should turn up again somewhere I'd be thrilled.

  11. Well I was pleasantly surprised to find this message in my inbox regarding a query I put out: "Of course I had nothing to do with this. I make as much available to all as I possibly can." -John Sinclair, May 25, 2012

  13. Ackk... I was just getting started and was only up to the posts from mid-2010. What a HUGE loss!! I wonder if there is any way I could get someone who captured all the interview stuff to burn a few DVD-Rs. I would compensate in any way appropriate for time and materials.

  14. Most of it is being made available at the Green site (up to September 1964 as of today)

  15. I got the Clean Up Time interviews (thanks Pep) but not sure what the Green site is.

  16. Please reupload three years of posts. Thank you. Will wait while you do so...

  17. Could someone post a URL for the Green site? I don't know how to get there or where to look.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes,please...a link to the Green site would be greatly appreciated.

  19. I may be wrong but I think you need an invite for Greenland.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The green site is Demonoid and, yes, you do need an invite if you aren't already a member. And this really isn't the appropriate place to be asking for invites, if anybody has a mind to do so here.

  21. Hey, Dr. D -- just catching up on what happened. Let this be a lesson: no more vacations!

  22. I don't think you do need an invite to D
but the server gets over loaded a lot right now plus lots of popups.

  23. The wonderful thing about this blog is that the material was offered without any of the put-downs and attitudes that so often prevail in this type of community. Some of us may not be savvy but we love the Beatles just as much as anyone else. Thanks again Dinsdale for all your hard work and kindness. It was appreciated.

  24. There are "download limits" that non-members can exceed... and correct me if I'm wrong.. I think non-members can only download newly-uploaded torrents. After a certain period of time (2 weeks??) they become member-only. So non-members will want to get these Demonoid downloads asap while the window of opportunity exists. That is my understanding. Luckily for me I am already a member, yay!!

  25. Ok! Listen, this is messy, but it's a start!

Here's a big bunch of 1964 material, mostly from the 1964 tour, I think there's even a couple of 1963 things in there (Cynthia reading "The Clinic" for instance). But mostly from '64, and mostly stuff that hasn't appeared on boots.

Here's stuff just related to the Kennedy Airport/Plaza Hotel, Feb of '64:

I will continue to upload stuff as I find it, and will try to do it in a more orderly fashion, but I figure for those who are desperate, this will be at least a start!!!

Hope it helps! Stay tuned! Check the comments on new posts!

    2. Hello, I would like to know to access these speedy.sh directories if they are still available online. I've tried different URLS with the various directory names given without success, so I'm lost. I'm missing a majority of the files uploaded on Beatlechat and would dearly appreciate any help. Thank you!

  42. Hey Pep (or anyone who would know),

Can someone please tell me how this speedyshare thingy works? I go to speedyshare.com but I can't see any way to access directories, and I also cannot use the provided directory name and password to log in. So I'm a bit clueless :-)

    Many thanks!
